With a distinguished career spanning over 38 years in criminal defence, Stuart brings his extensive expertise to DBT & Partners as a key consultant specialising in high-stakes tax fraud and white-collar crime. One of Britain’s most highly regarded advocates, his counsel is regularly sought by corporate leaders, high-profile individuals, and clients facing serious HMRC investigations, revenue offences, and complex financial prosecutions.

Stuart was amongst the first solicitor-advocates to defend criminal cases in the Crown Court. He serves on the Complex Crime Appeals Tribunal, acts as an Examiner for The Law Society’s Duty Criminal Solicitor Accreditation, and lectures on financial defence and corporate crime to government bodies and NGOs. He is also a former Chair and member of the Legal Aid Agency Criminal Costs Committee.

A legal business entrepreneur, Stuart engineered a client-centred service model, pioneering round-the-clock, end-to-end representation from initial regulatory or HMRC inquiries through to the Crown Court, Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court. During his tenure as Managing Partner, he drove expansion into a nationwide provider across regional offices, building a dedicated team committed to discreet, effective legal protection.
